In (NWL) Division 1, Joshua Sokol (Montreal QC) beat Joey Mallick (South Portland, ME) in Round 1, 456-446. Mallick then tied the best-of-5 series with a 451-384 win in Round 2.

Contending the CSW title, David Eldar (Australia) upset Wellington Jighere (Nigeria) 442-333 in Round 1, and again 481-407 in Round 2. We will take a break for the lower division prize ceremony before resuming the best-of-5 finals.

Play has resumed after the lunch break and lower division prize ceremony.

Sokol wins the third game 525-360 to pull ahead 2-1. Wellington finally wins a game, 513-471, so the CSW series is now also 2-1, with Eldar in the lead.

Mallick wins NWL Round 4 by a score of 429-366 to force a fifth and final game. Sokol is up 45 points of spread, so a fifth-game tie or win will make him the new champion.

In CSW, Jighere crushes Eldar 504-281 to also tie their series at two games apiece. He leads by 85 points of spread, and needs either a tie or a win.

Sokol wins a blowout in Round 5, 497-320, and is crowned this year's Scrabble Players Champion.

Jighere wins a close game in CSW Round 5, 409-385, and is the new CSW Scrabble Players Champion.
