Round 3

The energy in the room was high as the kids gathered around John Chew to find their round 3 pairings. It took about 20 seconds to call and names and tables before the students were putting tiles in bags. They started very soon thereafter.

A hard-fought game between Jack & Jamie WSWD (Westwood) and Zoe & Mireille BWMR (Bowmore) this round. Early on, the girls played VANISHEd for 68. A bit later, the boys got down BInDERS for 96, but it wasn’t enough and the girls won this game, their 3rd, which leads them to Monday’s finals.

A 410-361 win for Eric & Evan JMNR (Jack) over Evan & Ben BWMR (Bowmore), means that Eric & Evan are 3-0 and onto Monday’s final, too. Fun plays on their board. The winners played CONTINuER for 94 and HARPIES for 72, but my favorite play on the board was Ben & Evan’s VOWS to the triple, front hooking to make SHARPIES! I also see ENRAGES.

I was happy to see nearly every table shake hands with their opponents as the games wrapped up!
